Artist Review - Christian Music

PraiseReport.com got a chance to interview the Jim Anthony Band.  In our opinion, JAB is a rising star with plenty of talent.  They back up their talent with strong hooks and intelligent lyrics.  JAB definitely adds an edge to the Southern Rock/Adult Contemporary category of Christian music.  Check out the interview...

KPRR: What type of Christian music would you categorize the Jim Anthony Band?

JAB: "JAB’s most responsive audiences are in the 28-40 age range so I’d say Adult Contemporary, if there is such a wing of the Christian market.  If there isn’t such a wing, JAB is helping create it."

KPRR: What is the musical focus of the band?

JAB: "Writing, recording, and performing music that has staying power in peoples’ lives.  Making music that has depth and longevity rather than the flash and bang of material written to be a hit.  In a nutshell…obedience to God, one day at a time."

KPRR: How many band members are there?

JAB:  "Five."

KPRR: What are your names and what instruments do you play?

JAB: "Jim Anthony – lead vocals, acoustic and electric guitar,  Jim Demgen – keys,  Rob Kay – percussion,  Ty Stewart – electric and acoustic guitar, and Josh Jagdfeld – bass."

KPRR: What track on the album would you say has the most evangelical edge to it?  Why?

JAB:  “'He is My Peace.'  Because people who hear the song on both the CD and in concert say they can hear Jesus in the song.  It’s the kind of song that seems adept at breaking through the rush and noise of the average persons day.  That’s tough to do, but this song does it."

KPRR:  What would you say is the ultimate goal of the self-titled album?

JAB: "To give hope to those who don’t have it and to remind those who’ve lost it that they can find hope again."
